The who, what, when and why of my book

For years prior to writing this book, my hubs David, clients and friends urged me to share the who, what, when and why of where I was and where I am today.

Oddly it was a quote that framed things in a way that made sense to share my healing and spiritual path from the "there to my healthy, happy here. The essence of the quote was, "those who have walked through the fires and became a Phoenix have a moral responsibility to give the lessons back to give other their transformational wings."

The girl in the shadows on the book jacket was me back "there.| " I wrote this book as a testimony of hope and chronicale how my scars were turned into Lodestars that guide my and others I share our Change Making ideas with today. My book is an offering and affirmation that it is not what happens to us that defines who and what we become. Instead, it is how we respond and choose to do about it.

Bright blessings on your own journey,
Raia

Sharing Proud Moments

When I finished writing my book about my healing journey through two eating disorders, dysfunction in my family of original, abuse and much more I realized I had a number of success stories to share.  I did in the book David and  are planning to put "out there" either by self-publishing or finding a publisher so I won't go into too much of those success stories  right now.

However, when  I think of one of other proud moments the time that comes to mind was a few years ago during an outing with our "littles" from Big Brother/Big Sister. We were mentoring two children who initially did not want "bigs" who were the ages David and I are.

Even though we do not look and feel our age...we are not kids anymore and are, in reality into the age many retire. So when we went on an all day outing and there was a large rock wall to climb I initially watched the kids struggling to get to the top. A part of me wanted to try but I did not believe I could do it...but David did. He gently encouraged me to try and said he was sure I'd make it to the top.

After about a half hour I decided to go for it. As they were putting the harness on and I looked upwards to the massive structure with only little pieces of something or other to place the feet on I almost changed my mind. Once again David cheered me on and I started the long upwards trek.

When I made it all the way to the top I remember the feeling...it was like no other proud moment I have ever experienced. I pushed beyond my comfort zone and it was worth every moment. I use this experience whenever I find myself holding back or staying in familiar comfort zones and it helps me to move forward and try new things.

I plan to do it again and refuse to let my age stand in the way. I know if I keep myself active, healthy and strong I could be one of the first 70 year olds to make it up the steep wall.

Here is me scaling the wall and the big perk was the repel ride over the creek and through the trees on the way down. Yeehaw!
